Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PairCast mobile applications, the PairCast service, and the paircast.app website (together, the "Service"). By tapping Get Started, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
PairCast is operated by PairCast (the "Service Provider", "we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@paircast.app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create a PairCast account. By using the Service you confirm that you meet that threshold and that you have the legal authority to accept these Terms.
3. The Service
PairCast lets a "senior" share their phone screen with a "helper" (typically a family member) over a peer-to-peer WebRTC connection, with an optional voice call. The intent is to make remote assistance easier. PairCast is not a substitute for emergency services, banking support, technical support from a device manufacturer, or any professional advice.
4. Phone-number verification — Google Firebase
To create or restore an account we verify the phone number you enter using Google Firebase Authentication, a service provided by Google LLC. When you tap Verify Phone, your phone number is sent to Google solely so that Google can deliver a one-time verification code (by SMS or silent push) and confirm that you control the number. PairCast does not give Google any other information about you, and Google's handling of your phone number is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase Privacy and Security. By continuing past the Welcome screen, you consent to this verification step.
5. Your account
- Your phone number is your account identifier. Anyone with access to that number can request a verification code and take over the account.
- You are responsible for keeping your phone (and SIM, if applicable) secure. Tell us at hello@paircast.app if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
- Only one device may be logged in per account at a time; logging in on a new device automatically signs out the previous one.
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion removes your phone number, name, family links, pairing requests, session history, and any diagnostic logs we hold on the server.
6. Helpers and seniors — acceptable use
The whole point of PairCast is that someone can see your screen while you use your phone. That trust is load-bearing and is the single largest abuse vector for the app. By using PairCast you agree to:
- Only approve helpers you personally know and trust. If you are unsure, call them on a separate channel to confirm they sent the request.
- Never request to be someone's helper unless that person has asked you in person, by voice, or through a channel you already trust.
- Never use PairCast to view a screen of someone who has not knowingly granted you access.
- Never use PairCast to access banking, government, medical, or other sensitive systems on a senior's behalf without their explicit, contemporaneous consent.
- Never use PairCast to commit fraud, impersonate another person, or pressure anyone into transferring money, credentials, or personal information.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that we believe are being used to violate these rules.
7. Prohibited uses
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service, except where local law expressly permits it.
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the signaling, TURN, or web infrastructure.
- Use the Service to transmit unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringing content.
- Use the Service to record or share another person's screen, voice, or likeness without their consent and in compliance with applicable wiretapping, recording, and privacy laws.
- Use the Service for commercial telemarketing, SMS marketing, or other communications to phone numbers in your contact list.
8. Subscriptions and billing
PairCast offers a free tier with usage limits and a paid subscription with higher limits. Subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play, and billing, payment, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective terms. We rely on the store's receipt to confirm that you have an active subscription; we do not see your payment card or store credentials. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account at any time.
9. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.
10. No medical, emergency, or professional advice
PairCast is a screen-sharing utility. It is not a medical device, not a substitute for emergency services, and not a substitute for professional financial, legal, or technical advice. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every attack, or able to reach every device on every network. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PairCast and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for direct damages will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold PairCast harmless from any third-party claim arising out of (a) your misuse of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of another person.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to protect other users. We will provide notice where practicable.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is material, notify active users in the app. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, where applicable, the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the federal and state courts located in Delaware for any dispute that is not subject to arbitration or small-claims court. Nothing in this section affects rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country of residence.
